Migrating from v13 to v2009

The jump from v13 to v2009 is a much larger one than AdWords API developers are used to, mainly because v2009 is a rewrite of the AdWords API. This reworking enables us to roll out new features more quickly, as well as improve on speed, functionality and feature parity between the AdWords website and the API. There is, however, a lot to change; so, in this article we’ll take a look at how you can move your application to v2009.

Use the client libraries!

We firmly believe in reusing code and simplifying development, which is why we put a lot of effort into updating our client libraries for v2009. They make the task of coding against the AdWords API a lot easier by abstracting lower-level details, dealing with common issues, and providing handy utility methods. Nearly all of the Google-developed libraries provide support for both v13 and v2009, and you can even use both versions simultaneously in the same program, which is extremely important during this transitional phase where v2009 only has the core AdWords functionality.

You can find the libraries on our client libraries page. If you choose to use a client library, take a look at the README and included examples, which will get you started on how to code an application with it.

Adwords is a really great tool for promoting your website, forum or affiliate link. the ppc cost of adwords is even cheaper than Friendster or Facebook. before, i used to advertise on facebook but the ROI is so low. Adwords gives me a much better ROI compared to Facebook ads.
